Have you seen this code?

Nonsense Admin

You might have seen a code/cypher like this on posters or around campus,

(Translation at the end)

Well this post is here to explain how they work!

So about 2 years ago I found this numerical code online:

It was created by Cistercian monks in the 13th century!

Full information here: https://www.ncregister.com/blog/cistercian-numerals-secret-code

I used it to write numbers all the time, but it wasn't until my friend asked if I could write decimals that I realized how limited it really was.

So I created a solution to that problem!

Decimals are represented by a dot on the middle line of a character. There are 4 places a decimal can be because each character can only hold 4 digits.

You might be questioning how I write words with this. The answer is simple, I convert the words into numbers!

You could do this in many different ways but I chose the most simple one I knew, A1Z26.

A=1 B=2 C=3 D=4 ... X=24 Y=25 Z=26

In order to avoid mistranslation I separate the individual letters (now numbers) with decimals/dots and I separate words by slashes (because I like morse code).

Example (orange paper code) : 20.8.5 / 7.5.14.5.18.1.12 / 14.15.14.19.5.14.19.5 / 19.15.3.9.5.20.25
